About this site
This number connects homeowners who are planning a new roof or a full roof replacement with independent local roofing contractors. It is not for leak repairs or patch jobs. The call must come from the homeowner who decides on the roof. Calls may be recorded.
Roofs Philadelphia connects homeowners with independent local roofing contractors. We do not perform roofing work.
Roofs Philadelphia is a guide to replacing the roof of a Philadelphia house: rowhomes with low-slope roofs behind parapets, twins, detached houses, slate and mansard fronts. It covers the city's 46 ZIP codes with roof replacement permits in 2025.
Where the figures come from
Roof permits are the City of Philadelphia's own building permit records, published as open data by the Department of Licenses and Inspections and counted for the type “EZ Roof Covering Replacement” (13,120 permits since 2015). Homes, owners, the type of house and the year it was built are the Census Bureau's American Community Survey, 2020–2024 five-year estimates, by ZIP code tabulation area. Neighborhoods, planning districts, historic districts and the Philadelphia Register come from the City's map layers. Rules are quoted from L&I's EZ re-roofing standard, its fee summary and forms, the Pennsylvania building code, the Home Improvement Consumer Protection Act and the Historical Commission. Every source is on the sources page.
What this site is not
It is not a roofing company or a contractor directory. It does not inspect, install or replace roofs and employs no roofers. It does not rate businesses. The phone number on these pages connects homeowners planning a new roof or a full replacement with independent roofing contractors; how this site is paid explains the arrangement.
The domain was once used by a roofing business. This site has no connection to it, and nothing from that business is used here.
Corrections
Fees, forms and rules change, and the permit data grows every day. Pages carry the date their figures were checked; when the City publishes a new standard or fee schedule, the pages are rebuilt from the new source.
